USB 3.0 Issue


There was an issue with installing a Dymo 450 label printer on Tina Barton’s new Dell Optiplex 7010 PC where the Dymo software, when initially opened would display an error “You must have a Dymo label printer installed to use this program”.  Even though the printer was recognized by Windows, the Dymo software did not recognize it. Dymo’s support website indicated this was a known issue with certain Dymo label printers and USB 3.0 ports (which the Optiplex 7010 has).  I applied a firmware update to the printer and it resolved the issue.   Saved the firmware update file to:


G:\Install\Openapps\Dymo\Dymo USB 3.0 Fix.

To fix your LabelWriter 450 or LabelWriter 450 Turbo


Before you download the update, read these instructions to put your label printer into program mode.


Remove the labels from the label printer.

Disconnect the USB cable from your computer

Disconnect the power adapter.

Wait 10 seconds.

Press and hold the only button on the front of the printer while plugging in the power adapter.

Release the button. The LED status light on the front of the printer should be solid blue.

Connect the USB cable to your computer and click the download button below.




Disabling The Registration Reminder

Open Computer, browse to %localappdata%\DYMO\DLS8\DataTracking\ the following location and edit the "Settings.xml" file as shown below.


Change the line:

<isdatatrackingenabled>true</isdatatrackingenabled>

to

<isdatatrackingenabled>false</isdatatrackingenabled>
