Steps for both source and destination:
Insert the Clonezilla USB key
Hook the laptop up to the switch on the workbench with an Ethernet cable
Plug power into the laptop. Power on the laptop and tap the “Escape” key to get to the Startup menu
Go into Bios (F2) and Turn off Secure Boot. Exit.
Go back into Bios and change order of Boot Config to have the USB first. (Samsung)
Hit the escape button again as it reboots to enter the Startup menu.
Clonezilla will now give a boot menu
Select Clonezilla live (VGA 800x600 & To Ram) and hit enter
Select “English”
Select “Keep Keep the default keyboard layout - US keyboard”
Select “Start_Clonezilla Start Clonezilla”
If the laptop is the source:
Put a post-it note on the laptop, indicating this is a source laptop
Select “remote-source Enter source mode of remote device cloning”
Select “Beginner”
Select “disk to remote disk local_disk_to_remote_disk_clone”
Select “DHCP Use DHCP Broadcast”
Select the NVME (or computer drive, NOT the USB)
Select “-sfsck Skip checking/repairing source file system”
Select “p choose Choose reboot/shutdown/etc when everything is finished”
It will display the Linux command for future reference. Hit the “enter” key
After running through its checks, it will state the IP address in yellow. It will also state the it is “Waiting for the target machine to connect”
If the laptop is the destination:
Put a post-it note on the laptop, indicating this is a destination laptop
Select “remote-dest Enter destination mode of remote device cloning”
Select “DHCP Use DHCP Broadcast”
Enter the IP address of the Source computer in this screen.
Select “restoredisk Restore an image onto the computer disk (entire hard disk)”
Select the NVME (or computer drive, NOT the USB) with the spacebar
Press “Enter”
Now it will ask you if you are sure twice. Select “Y” in both cases.
Now the cloning process will start
Once completed, select “reboot”
Go into Bios and turn Secure Boot back on
Hit escape until it asks you to save the changes
Sign into Windows and rename the PC according to the asset tag sticker attached.
Reboot the PC to set the name. The process is now complete.
