Google Form

We use the same form each time so that returning precinct workers don’t need to use a different link:

https://forms.gle/BjSZk3zgnha9JNk68

  1. Change the name of the form to reflect the new election date. Example: Precinct Support Call - Aug 2024

  2. Delete the previous election’s responses.

    1. These should have been saved after the election and provided to Clerks – further instructions below.

  1. Unlink the Form from the previous response spreadsheet.

  1. Click “Link to Sheets” to create a new response spreadsheet and name it based on the current election date.

    1. Confirm that it named the sheet the same as the Form and that the new election date is included.

Google Sheet - Responses

Toggle off “Not Accepting Responses” to “Accepting Responses.”

Format the responses Sheet to match the column order of the previous elections:

  • Priority

  • On It! (added column, not part of the Form)

  • Precinct

  • Problem/Update

  • Name

  • Callback #

  • Timestamp

Copy the Conditional Formatting

While you can’t copy Conditional Formatting from one Google Sheet to another, you can copy a tab from one Google Sheet to another. So you must copy the tab that contains the Conditional Formatting from the previous election’s spreadsheet  to the new spreadsheet.

 Copying a Spreadsheet Tab

To copy a tab to another spreadsheet use the tab’s context menu (arrow next to tab name), select “Copy to”, then “Existing spreadsheet” and browse to the new election spreadsheet.

Copying the Conditional Formatting between Tabs

Place your cursor in the A1 cell of the copier tab and choose the “Paint Format” tool from the top menu (looks like a paint roller).

Then click into the tab you are copying to, and click the mouse in the A1 cell. The Conditional Formatting formulas will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.

Creating the Sort & Wrap Button

The spreadsheet will not sort automatically as responses are coming in and changes are being made. It must be sorted and the text wrapped manually using a present button associated with a Macro.

From the Insert menu in the top navigation bar, choose Drawing.

From that top navigation bar choose Shape.

Choose the “rounded rectangle” shape and drag your mouse to create it in the drawing area.

Double click inside the rectangle and type Sort & Wrap. Bold the type and increase the font size to 16.
